CONNAH’S QUAY NOMADS will be looking to emulate their senior side by beating The New Saints in a top of the table showdown.

Nomads defeated Caernarfon 4-0 courtesy of goals from Charlie Holland (2), Max Moore and Josh Allen to set up a mouthwatering clash on Sunday.

The Flintshire side are three points clear of TNS, who have a game in-hand, ahead of the meeting, which Nomads’ head coach Gareth Richards is excited about.

“They are always big against TNS,” said Richards. “It holds no fears for us, we always enjoy playing against them, they are a good side and it’s always an interesting tactical battle.”

Richards was delighted to be heading to Park Hall on the back of an impressive victory over Caernarfon.

“It seems like a long time since we played our last league game,” said Richards. “We’ve had a couple of college games over the past couple of months, but weather has put pay to other matches, so we’ve been chomping at the bit to get going.

“Caernarfon beat us at their place earlier in the season and they were one of the strongest teams we’ve played and they were set-up really well.

“The first-half was similar to how it was down at their place, but all in all I thought it was a professional performance from us.

“We seemed to come to life in the second-half.”

Richards also reserved special praise for two-goal Holland.

He said: “I’m delight for Charlie, who has chipped in with some important goals this season. He puts pressure on himself to get goals. He keeps getting in areas to score, but, by his own admission, he probably hasn’t taken as many as he’d have liked to, so the fact he’s got on the scoresheet, we are made up for him.”

Oli Lanceley, pictured, bagged both goals as Airbus recorded a 2-0 success against visiting Cefn Druids.

Wingmakers’ head coach Rick Chapman was left to reflect on an impressive display in tough conditions.

Chapman said: “We welcomed back a few players from injuries, which added a freshness to us. We have had a lot of games with the team in the Welsh National League Reserves and Colts Division and a few of the lads were tired in the last few weeks so the break because of the weather was a bit of a blessing.

“We dominated the game and controlled the play without the ball, it was a really mature performance from the lads.

“Oli was excellent, but the whole squad on the day played a massive part.

“I was really pleased with the performance in tough conditions.”

Oli Buckley scored a hat-trick and Ben Sedgewick, Lewis Hughes and Lewis Thompson added the others as Prestatyn came away from Bala with a 6-2 success.

Bala return to action this weekend at Cefn Druids and Prestatyn host Rhyl, while Flint visit Caernarfon and Llandudno tackle Newtown.
