DEE-FIRE managed to earn themselves a vital victory in their North East Wales Netball Association (NEWNA) Winter League clash with North Dragons Inferno.

The Flintshire based team fought for a 43-35 success against their third placed opponents in their Division Two contest, narrowing the gap between the two sides to ten points.

Dee-Fire are also now just three points off the Mold Ravens in third after they were shot down by top of the table North Dragon Ignite.

The 48-35 win for the league leaders was their tenth from 11 games and keeps the Ignite team three points clear at the top.

But second placed Buckley Jets kept themselves within touching distance of the table toppers as they saw off Hope Hurricanes 36-23.

Elsewhere in the division, Hope Harriers are still without a win as they fell to a 54-40 reverse to the Flint Foxes, while Storms powered past the Dazzlers 53-33 in the league’s only other fixture.

Division One and Division Three sides will return to NEWNA Winter League action on Tuesday.
