DEESIDE DJs U15s were finally beaten in a competitive Junior Netball League fixture, bringing an end to an incredible winning run that fell just short of two years.

The DJs had looked on course to rack up yet another win as they led their Wrexham Diamonds opponents 9-6 at half-time.

But Wrexham came out fighting in the second period to turn the game around and secure a 17-14 win which was unbelievably the DJs’ first taste of defeat since March 2018.

In a double disappointment for the former league leaders, the Deeside Dominoes scraped a narrow victory over Boughton Belles Bears to move to the top of the table.

The Dominoes went into the break with a 10-8 lead, but as with the DJs, their opponents returned to the court in inspired form with the Bears managing to temporarily level the scores at 16 all.

Eve Ratcliffe and her side kept their composure, though, to eventually claim a hard-fought 20-16 success which makes them the new league leaders on goal difference.

Elsewhere in the Under 15s division, Deeside Darts fell to a 24-17 reverse against the Chester Lions.

In Under 14s action, the Diamonds outclassed the Dixies in their Deeside derby clash. Emily Wilcox claimed the player of the match award as her side took an early lead which they never looked like relinquishing in a 29-8 success.

Meanwhile, Ellesmere Port Stars managed to see off a stubborn Deeside Doves side in a 17-13 win to keep in touch with the leading pack of teams.

Deeside Dace U13s began the second half of their season with a convincing 22-4 win over Holywell Hotspurs, with Laura Haden playing a starring role.

In the Under 12s division, Deeside Dots were scintillating in their stunning 31-0 whitewash of Wrexham Rosegolds where Hollie Owen picked up the player of the match.

An Under 11s Deeside derby between the Dolphins and the Dice saw three players go off injured for the latter side, resulting in somewhat of a stop-start contest.

Anais Jones helped the Dolphins to earn their first victory of the season with a 7-6 win, while the Dice will hope to have their players back for their next match.

Deeside Dimples U10s were unable to stop the second placed Ellesmere Port Rockets who flew to a 20-1 victory to keep themselves within touching distance of table toppers Chester Crackers.

Abigail McGowan claimed the player of the match award as she inspired her Deeside Dynamos side to a 5-1 success over Mold Falcons in the Under 9s division.

The Deeside Daredevils U9s also won as they bounced back from trailing 2-1 at half time to beating the Boughton Belle Dolphins 3-2 with Darcie Bedford being named player of the match.
