IT'S been a busy transfer deadline day at The Racecourse with Dean Keates completing one new signing and allowing two players to leave the club on loan.

The Wrexham boss has brought in defender Jordon Thompson from Coventry City on an initial 28-day loan.

Centre-back Thompson came through the youth ranks at the League One club where he has made nine appearances in all competitions.

The 20-year-old has also had loan spells in the National League with Barrow and Boreham Wood, making eight appearances for the latter earlier this season.

Thompson, who joins Sky Blues team-mate Jordan Ponticelli in having a temporary stint with the Reds, could be involved tomorrow when Wrexham face Dagenham and Redbridge at The Racecourse.

But Bobby Grant and Dawid Szczepaniak won't be available after securing moves.

Grant, leading scorer with eight goals this term but not in the squad for the last two games which both ended in Wrexham wins, has joined League One outfit Accrington Stanley on loan until the end of the season.

After initially arriving at Wrexham on loan in November 2018 from Fleetwood Town, Grant made the move permanent during the 2019 January transfer window, and he took up the option of a contract extension last summer.

And third choice goalkeeper Szczepaniak, restricted to just one Scottish Challenge Cup appearance this season after signing last summer following a trial, has joined Cymru Premier side Cefn Druids on loan until the end of the season.
