CORWEN and Buckley shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw that did little to boost either side’s Cymru North survival hopes.

Sam Spridgeon took advantage of an error from Corwen debutant goalkeeper Keighan Jones to open the scoring for Buckley.

Callum Humphries saw red for Buckley, who were undone late on as Sam Henry marked his return to Corwen with a leveller, although the home side will feel aggrieved with the visiting defender not officially sent-off until 10 minutes after his second booking.

Buckley boss Dan Moore, whose side are a point from safety, said: “It was an improvement on last weekend. The players showed massive desire to not concede a goal and we looked good in possession, especially in the first-half.

“After playing 25 to 30 minutes with 10-men to come away with one point was actually okay, especially after the amount of balls into our box we had to deal with.

“Every point earned in this league is vital, especially when playing away, and that’s four points picked up from our last two away games.”

Corwen manager Sion Tudor Jones was left disappointed not to have tasted success.

“I’m happy with the lads, their application and the way they performed, but if I’m totally honest I’m not happy with a draw,” said Jones, whose side are six points shy of fifth from bottom Llangefni.

“We could have been three or four up and their goalkeeper Joe (Makaruk) has made some outstanding saves.

“We’ve conceded an unfortunate error, but from then on, Keighan has been outstanding.

“We performed so well that I feel we deserved more, although, as much as I felt we could win it late on, I also thought Buckley might because it was end-to-end.”

Rock-bottom Llanfair picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Llangefni 3-1.

Gethin Jones (2) and Gethin Stephens handed Llanfair a welcome win, while Matthew Jones replied for Llangefni.

Steve Blenkinsop, Chris Catherall and Adam Jenkins scored as Guilsfield came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Llandudno, who led through Danny Hughes and Dean Seager. Penrhyncoch and Bangor drew 0-0.
