IT'S been a long time coming but Wrexham finally got their first win on a 3G pitch against high-flying Harrogate Town.

The Reds made the trip to Wetherby Road without a victory in 10 previous outings on artificial playing surfaces.

James Jennings gave Dean Keates' side an 11th minute with a stunning free-kick but it was backs to the wall stuff for Wrexham in the first half as Harrogate piled on the pressure.

But Wrexham weathered the storm and were on top in the second half, JJ Hooper scoring a second goal to make the game safe.

It was the second win and clean sheet in a row and moved Wrexham up to 16th position, four points above the National League relegation zone.

Here's how the players rated:

ROB LAINTON: Crucial first half saves kept Wrexham’s lead in tact and deserved his clean sheet. 8

JAKE LAWLOR: Superb first half block denied a goal and was a rock all game to snuff out Harrogate’s threat. 8

SHAUN PEARSON: The captain was at his brilliant best to win most things in the air when Harrogate pressed. My man of the match. 8

KIERAN KENNEDY: Wrexham’s back three were fantastic in a tough first half and he had a good game. 8

MARK CARRINGTON: Had a tricky customer in Diamond but stuck to his task and did a great job. 7

LUKE YOUNG: You always get a hard working performance off Young and this was no different. 7

JAMES JENNINGS: Stunning free-kick gave Wrexham the lead and he did his job at both ends of the pitch. 8

PAUL RUTHERFORD: Another good shift as Wrexham secured a great win. 7

DAN JARVIS: Has been a breath of fresh air since joining and has added a lot - even in two games. 7

DAVIS KEILLOR-DUNN: Another promising cameo. 6

JORDAN PONTICELLI: Missed late chance. 6
