DEESIDE DJs got off to the perfect start to the new year with a massive win in their derby clash against the Dominoes in the Under 15s league.

Both sides went into the contest unbeaten, with the Dominoes just ahead of the DJs on goal difference. But now the tables have turned as a derby win for the DJs has put them top.

The DJs took a five-goal lead into the half-time interval and only added to their advantage in the second period with Poppy Ellis starring in her side’s 23-14 victory.

There was another Deeside derby in the Under 14s division where the Ella Murray helped the Doves to a big win against the Dixies as they went on to record a 35-7 success.

Deeside Diamonds U14s, though, fell to a 12-9 reverse against the Chester Dynamos who took advantage of some slack passing from the Flintshire club.

In the Under 13s league, third place Deeside Dace good off to a good start to the new year with Laura Haden helping her team to a comfortable 28-9 win over Mold Dragons, while the Dragonflies also ran out 9-5 winners against Holywell Hotspurs with Ruby Ellis picking up the player of the match award.

League leaders Deeside Dots U12s lost their first game of the season in a closely contested top of the table clash against second placed Ellesmere Port Waves who surged to a 20-16 win which leaves both sides level on 34 points alongside Chester Lightning in third.

A spirited Deeside Dolphins side produced some of their best netball play so far this season in the Under 11s league, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 12-3 reverse against Chester Jaguars.

The Deeside Dimples U10s proved to be a stubborn opponent for the Chester Cobras with their strong defensive play, but they were ultimately unable to avoid an 8-2 defeat.

In the Under 9s league, a determined Deeside Dynamos performance couldn’t thwart a 12-3 loss against second placed Chester Warriors.

But elsewhere in the league, Darcie Bedford helped the Daredevils inflict just a second defeat of the season on the Ellesmere Port Rainbows as the Flintshire club claimed a stunning 4-2 success over their third place opponents.
