IT was an afternoon to forget as Wrexham produced a dreadful performance against Aldershot Town at The Racecourse and didn't deserve anything from the game.

The Shots won 2-1 and the scoreline makes it looker closer than it really was because the visitors should have triumphed by a bigger margin.

Wrexham were indebted to goalkeeper Rob Lainton for keeping them in the game in the first half but conceded twice after the break, with JJ Hooper's late goal merely a consolation.

Only a couple of players emerged from the game with any credit as Wrexham, booed off the pitch following the final whistle, lacked the desire of a team looking to avoid relegation.

Here's how the players rated:

ROB LAINTON: Would have been more but for Lainton who was in inspired form during the first half. 7

KIERAN KENNEDY: Aldershot caused all sorts of problems throughout and eventually took their chances. 3

JAKE LAWLOR: It was a difficult afternoon for the three man defence who could not contain the Shots. 3

MARK CARRINGTON: The centre-back who showed up best against the Shots and deserves credit for that. 6

TYLER REID: Just didn’t impact himself on the game at either end of the pitch. 3

DEVONTE REDMOND: He was good at Chorley but unable to repeat that performance. 3

LUKE YOUNG: The outfield player who shone. Young’s fight for the cause is unquestionable and he deserved better. 7

JAMES JENNINGS: Always an attacking outlet but it was tough going defensively for the left wing-back. 3

BOBBY GRANT: Things just didn’t happen for Grant who had a rare Wrexham chance in the second half. 3

JJ HOOPER: Late goal made the game closer than it actually was because Wrexham were awful. 5

OMARI PATRICK: Had a quiet game and not as effective as he has been so far for the Reds. 3

LUKE SUMMERFIELD: The Shots ran the midfield. 3

MARK HARRIS: Cross set up the goal. 4
