DEAN KEATES says Wrexham have to take care of their own business in the fight against relegation and not worry about results elsewhere.

The Reds suffered a 2-0 defeat at Maidenhead on Saturday and remain fourth from bottom in the National League, one point adrift of safety.

Maidenhead were the only team in the bottom eight to secure victory at the weekend but Keates insists Wrexham cannot lose focus on the job in hand and he is looking to bounce back with victory against fellow strugglers Chorley at Victory Park this afternoon.

"As a football club it is nowhere near where we want to be," said Keates.

"The fans came down to Maidenhead in great numbers again after the Christmas period, I am grateful for that, and we will go up in big numbers to Chorley.

"We have to make sure we are united and we have to get three points.

"The table is what it is. All we can do is look after ourselves.

"We are disappointed we didn't take three points on Saturday but we have to make sure we go to Chorley, give an account of ourselves like we did on Boxing Day and get back to where we were, and make sure we do our best to get three points."

Wrexham have 18 games remaining and Keates knows it is a crucial final four months of the season.

"Every game is huge for this football club," said Keates.

"We are one of the biggest in the division, we always come with a good backing and everybody wants to take our scalp.

"The players, whoever goes out there and represents the football club, need to understand that and you need to deliver to the expectations of the fans and this football club.

"This football club is nowhere near where it should be, it is my job to get this football club going forward and making sure that we are not looking over our shoulder for the rest of the season."
