A SECOND-HALF capitulation heaped more misery on Airbus as they crashed to a 5-0 defeat at Caernarfon Town.

The Wingmakers had held their own in a goalless but evenly-contested first half at The Oval, but shipped five times in the final 30 minutes as they slipped to their sixth successive Cymru Premier loss.

Darren Thomas opened the scoring for the Cofis on the hour mark, finding the top corner with a superb first-time strike.

Sion Bradley doubled the lead six minutes later, thumping the ball beyond Wingmakers keeper Dave Roberts.

Thomas notched his second of the contest on 71 minutes, before further late strikes from Leo Smith and Sam Jones completed the rout.

The New Saints extended their advantage at the top of the table with a convincing 4-1 win at Barry Town.

The Oswestry club are now four points clear of second-placed Connah’s Quay Nomads following their fourth league win in a row.

Aeron Edwards fired the visitors ahead on four minutes, but Kayne McLaggon’s strike brought Barry level four minutes later.

Parity was shortlived, however, with Ryan Brobbel restoring the lead from the penalty spot soon after.

Second-half strikes from Dean Ebbe and Jamie Mullan wrapped up the points for the defending champions.

Delighted Saints boss Scott Ruscoe said: “I’m very pleased. It was an excellent performance from start to finish.

“We’ve got a great squad - whoever start and whoever comes off the bech. I’m happy as a manager that I’ve got a squad like that to choose from. It makes my job a lot easier.”

Newtown remain three points adrift of sixth place courtesy of a narrow 1-0 home victory over Carmarthen Town

The win came courtesy of Dave Vincent’s early own goal.

Aberystwyth Town moved further clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 victory at Cardiff Met.

A cagey game came to life 14 minutes from the end when Eliot Evans broke the deadlock for Cardiff Met, but Aberystwyth were back on level terms within two minutes through Geoff Kellaway.

The winger then struck again with five minutes remaining to ensure the visitors closed the gap on eighth-placed Met to five points and kept their top-six hopes alive.
