NEFYN United moved up to fourth in the Gwynedd League following an emphatic 5-0 home rout over Bontnewydd.

The improving side turned in another polished attacking performance that extends their perfect record on home soil to five and moves them to within six points of pacesetting Trearddur Bay Bulls with three games in hand.

A strong start from the hosts saw them go ahead on ten minutes thanks to a fine finish from Gethin Trenholme, and their fortunes improved further on the quarter hour mark when Ifan Gwilym’s strike doubled their advantage.

This was swiftly followed by another midway through the half that came on 22 minutes courtesy of a Steve Jones effort, and United all-but sealed another three points with Iolo Jones added his name to the scoresheet with 35 on the clock.

After the break saw the home side extend their cushion late on when Josh Dorkins rounded off the scoring eight minutes from time to complete the scoring.

Waunfawr’s recent resurgence continued with a comfortable 6-2 home triumph over Llanystumdwy.

A first-half brace from Shaun Roberts played a significant role in the home side’s success, with Tomos Owen, Ioan Gwynedd, Meurig Parry and Tomos Usher also on target for the ninth-placed outfit.

The visitors did manage to grab two consolations in the first period through Sion Pierce and Guto Roberts, but this failed to have an impact on the overall result.
