DAN MOORE’S worst fears were confirmed as Buckley Town were dumped out of the competition by lower league Pontardawe Town.

Heading into the clash against Welsh League Division One strugglers Pontardawe, Bucks boss Moore said: “Anything can happen in this type of game. There are upsets in most cup competitions and whichever league they play in is irrelevant.”

And Pontardawe, who prop up their division following just two draws from seven outings, proved too good on the day for their Flintshire visitors, who were beaten 3-1.

Callum Silcox’s brace, either side of an effort from Josh Roberts, had Pontardawe in command before Aled Bellis bagged Buckley’s consolation.

Llandudno were also dumped out of the competition as Afan Lido ran riot to record a 5-1 home win.

Lewis Holmes struck twice and Sean Hanbury and a Sam Downey own goal left Lido in total control at the break.

Sam Downey pulled a goal back for Llandudno, but Kaid Mohamed added a fifth in stoppage time for the hosts.

There were no such problems for Rhyl and Prestatyn, who overcame STM Sports and Penrhyncoch respectively.

Aaron Hassell and Tom Creamer struck in Rhyl’s 2-0 home win, while Daniel Davies’ double helped Prestatyn win 2-1 at Penrhyncoch, who made a game of it through Jack Rimmer’s spot-kick.

Swansea University are also in the hat after beating Cambrian & Clydach 3-0 courtesy of goals from Marley Bishop-Wisdom, Will Toms and Oliver Roberts’ penalty.
