WREXHAM marked their return to National League action by drawing 3-3 against Yeovil Town at The Racecourse.

Dean Keates' side twice came from behind to level before taking a 3-2 lead but high-flying Yeovil equalised to earn a share of the spoils.

The Reds remain in the relegation zone and are now unbeaten in two league games.

Keates made three loan signings in the run up to the game and one - right-back Tyler Reid - was handed a starting place in the Reds' defence.

Reid's inclusion was the only change from the side that started Tuesday's FA Cup defeat at Rochdale, the Swindon man coming in for James Jennings who was missing through illness.

That meant Mark Carrington switched full-back flanks while the other two new additions - Kieran Kennedy and Omari Patrick - were named among the substitutes.

The game was less than three minutes old when Yeovil took the lead following good build-up play.

Myles Hippolyte's cross reached Jimmy Smith who played in Rhys Murphy and the Glovers striker fired past Rob Lainton.

It was an early blow and Wrexham responded with a ball played up to Bobby Grant who rounded keeper Stuart Nelson but his effort was cleared off the line by Luke Wilkinson.

There was another good opening for Wrexham as Reid's blocked cross fell for Ben Tollitt but the winger cleared the bar from the edge of the area.

However, Wrexham equalised in the 22nd minute.

Tollitt got the better of his marker and pulled the ball back from the by-line for Wright who guided the ball into the back of the net.

Wrexham were given a let-off when Charlie Lee's cross fell to an unmarked Murphy who failed to hit the target from close range.

Keates was forced into a change in the 33rd minute when Reid, who had been struggling after picking up an injury, was replaced by Kennedy.

It got worse for Wrexham as Yeovil were back in the lead five minutes later with the Reds defence carved wide open.

Substitute Albi Skendi played the ball out to Smith who fed Murphy and the striker, left in acres of space, beat Lainton.

But Wrexham made it 2-2 on 44 minutes with a contender for goal of the season as Paul Rutherford's curling shot from just outside the area gave Nelson no chance.

The second half was just two minutes old when Wrexham went ahead for the first time.

Yeovil failed to clear Luke Young's corner and Grant stabbed the ball home from close range.

Tollitt was presented with another good chance after being set-up by Rutherford but he did not get enough on his shot.

It was end to end but Yeovil began to apply more pressure and levelled after 65 minutes.

The Reds switched off at the back and Murphy scored to complete his hat-trick.

Omari Patrick came on for his debut in place of Tollitt and both sides pressed for a winner.

Jake Lawlor had to clear off the line from Courtney Duffus after Lainton came out to challenge Chris Dagnall on the edge of the area.

Wrexham had a chance to win it in added time when Grant fired over from inside the six yard box from Shaun Pearson's pull-back.

Patrick was also denied by Nelson but it finished all-square in the end.
