DEAN KEATES is relishing being back in league action and he wants to make the most of two successive home games in the battle against relegation.

Wrexham beat then-leaders Bromley 1-0 in their last National League outing three weeks ago, since when the Reds took Rochdale to an FA Cup first round replay where they lost 1-0 and also exited the Scottish Challenge Cup against Rangers Colts.

Denied the chance to build on the Bromley win, Keates hopes Wrexham pick-up where they left off against Yeovil at The Racecourse tomorrow before playing host to fellow strugglers Fylde on Tuesday.

"The FA Cup is the FA Cup and you figure that into your plans," said Keates.

"The Scottish Challenge Cup is something that got kind of imposed onto the football club at the beginning of the season but there is no point moaning about it.

"In a perfect world we wouldn't be operating in it and we would be playing in the league.

"It is a few weeks since we played in the league and we need to build on the good performance and good result against Bromley. It needs to be backed up.

"We have got two home games coming up so we have got to be looking at picking up a lot of points, but we are not looking past Yeovil."

Keates, who celebrated his first league win since returning for a second spell as manager against Bromley, spoke about the importance of Wrexham's home form in the bid to reach safety.

"Your home games are the ones where you have got to be looking at maximum points all the time," said Keates.

"You go away from home and you think 'a point here isn't a bad result', but you still try to pick up maximum points if you can every single game.

"We want to win football matches, we have to win football matches and we have to be picking up points to get us away from where we are at the moment, and get us where we want to be going in the second half of the season."
