LLANRWST United caused a huge stir at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit with a thumping 5-1 victory over Holyhead Hotspur.

The in-form Rwsters’ took another notable scalp on home thanks in no small part to another blistering display in front of goal from Callum Parry, who has been a revelation for the club since his summer move.

United now sit in fifth position, nine points behind leaders Denbigh Town with three games in hand ahead of their next contest at the pacesetters on November 27.

The home side got off on the front foot and went ahead on 21 minutes when Parry broke free from his marker and fired past Carl Jones, and they doubled their advantage shortly after the restart when another neat passage of play was finished off in style by Sam Jones.

This spurred the hosts on further during a dominant first period, and they notched their third of the contest on 31 minutes when Parry produced another finish of genuine quality for his second of the afternoon.

After the break saw the Holy Islanders’ finally begin to impose themselves on the clash, which resulted in them reducing the arrears on 67 minutes through a strike from Dewi Thomas.

Any hopes that Darren Garmey’s side had of getting back into the game were dashed on 79 minutes when United were awarded a penalty, and Parry’s confident spot kick hit the target to seal his hat trick.

There was still time for the home side to rub further salt into the visitors’ wounds, which came three minutes from time when Sam Roberts found the net to complete the scoring.
