STEVE HALLIWELL hopes to avoid the “weekly inquest” by leading Gresford Athletic to victory at Bangor City.

Gresford have endured a tough start to the campaign, losing seven of their opening 11 outings to leave them 12th in the table, a point clear of the drop zone.

A 4-1 Welsh Cup defeat at the hands of Porthmadog last weekend did little to raise morale and director of football Halliwell knows a positive result is needed at Nantporth tomorrow.

“We all need to be singing from the same hymn sheet,” said Halliwell. “There’s now a weekly inquest and it’s not sinking in for some players, who are going through the motions.”

A victory at Bangor would change the mood in the Gresford camp and Halliwell has been working hard on devising a plan to pocket all three points.

“It’s a trip into the unknown,” said Halliwell of facing Pedro Pasculli’s Citizens.

“It’s important to get some information on them and build a plan around that. We can’t go without a plan if we want to get anything from the game.

“Bangor are inconsistent this season, but it’s still one great place to play football and we look forward to making the trip.”

Gresford were 2-1 victors in the corresponding fixture last season at Conwy Borough’s Y Morfa.

“We beat Bangor last season, but it will be a completely different proposition this time around,” added Halliwell, who is set to make changes to his starting XI tomorrow.

Aaron Edwards and Paul Williams could return after missing the Welsh Cup loss, while Ben Jones, pictured, is expected to return in goal and Jordan MacCarter will be hoping to feature having pulled out in the warm up last week.

Former Gresford boss Eddie Maurice-Jones takes Rhyl to third from bottom Porthmadog tomorrow, while basement outfit Llanfair United face a daunting trip to table topping Prestatyn, who have scored 48 goals in their 13 outings to date.

Relegation threatened Llangefni Town are also in action as they entertain Guilsfield.
