AIRBUS will “have a go” at Bala Town safe in the knowledge that they have number one stopper Dave Roberts back marshalling their backline.

The Wingmakers came unstuck last week as they lost 2-1 at home to lowly Penybont with defender Sam Hart between the posts due to an injury crisis.

Roberts was joined on the sidelines by fellow stoppers Lewis Hall and Brendan Hazlett, but the Airbus number one is fit after shoulder problems to return at Maes Tegid tonight.

“It’s massive to have Dave available,” said Airbus assistant Andrew Thomas, who revealed an emergency loan move for a goalkeeper fell through at the 11th hour last weekend.

“You don’t realise how much you will miss not having a proper goalkeeper until you are forced to play without one.”

With Roberts back providing assurance to the Airbus defence, Thomas is looking for his players to take the game to their high-flying hosts.

“We are going there to have a go at them,” said Thomas. “But we know they’ve got really good players, experienced players and players who score a lot of goals.

“Bala are one of the strongest teams in the league, but we know we can compete if we play our game, which we will definitely be looking to do.”

On-loan Wrexham midfielder Matty Sargent is set to return to the Airbus squad, although midfield duo Jordan Evans and Ryan Edwards remain doubtful.

Airbus ran Bala close on the opening night of the campaign, Steve O’Shaughnessy’s men narrowly beaten 2-1 on home turf, a result that Colin Caton remembers only too well.

“We went there for the first game of the season and we narrowly won 1-0,” said Bala boss Caton.

“They made it so difficult for us in the first half and it’s going to be another difficult task.”

Bala head into the televised encounter in third spot, four points off top following back-to-back victories which have yielded nine goals for and none against.

Caton said: “We are doing well at the moment and confidence is high.

“We have always had good squads over the years and it’s just so hard to compete with the top ones.

“The league is so tight at the minute. TNS have lost three times this season and it’s made it quite interesting. It’s a tough league, but we are doing well.”

Tomorrow sees Cardiff Met host Carmarthen, but Penybont’s scheduled clash with Caernarfon has been postponed until the new year due to international call ups.

Dan Griffiths and Keenan Patten, both on-loan from Cardiff City at Penybont, have been selected to represent Wales Under-19s in their Euro qualifying round matches.
