MOLD ALEX produced a stunning second-half showing as they thumped Llanrug 8-1.

There was no sign of the goal blitz that was to come as the game remained goalless at the break, but Mold upped the tempo to devastating effect.

Danny Warren hit a hat-trick, while Connor Kendrick, Matty Pierce, Kev Day, Dan Lloyd and Henry Carver also found the net as Mold ran riot.

Joni Sadler struck a late consolation for Llanrug, but it’s Mold who are in today’s third round draw.

A pleased Mold boss Mike Cunningham said: “An excellent second-half performance from the lads saw us through.

“Make no mistake, Llanrug are a good experienced side, but we asked the lads to dig deep in the second-half and we came out and blew them away.

“It’s a fantastic achievement for us as a club to reach round three and we all look forward to today’s draw.”

Queen’s Park were unable to progress as Dave Evans’ men were beaten 3-0 at Rhyl.

Sam Molyneux, Ben Nash and Tom Creamer settled the tie in Rhyl’s favour, although Park were perhaps unfortunate not to have been given a chance to get their noses in-front with Barry Torrence seeing appeals for a penalty waved away.

Evans said: “It was a great occasion for us as we were able to pit ourselves against a side from a higher league.

“To take anything from the game we needed the rub of the green and it wasn’t there in any shape or form.”
