I can't believe Wales are 5/2 to beat South Africa on Sunday.

It’s got to be worth a little flutter because there’s no way they can play any worse than they did in last week’s last-gasp one-point win over France.

It was a horrible kicking game against France where the likes of George North and Josh Adams hardly got a touch and Wales so much missed Jonathan Davies.

Wales’ other Davies - scrum-half Gareth - underperformed against France and can’t afford to do that against the flamboyant Faf De Klerk.

It promises to be a cracker and I only hope Wales didn’t use up all their good luck last week.

England were brilliant against Australia but a semi-final against New Zealand - the invincible World champions - will be a completely different ball-game.

Coach Eddie Jones is back at his sound-byte best but will his players rise to the occasion?

Despite England, quite rightly, receiving rave reviews, that Australian side were woefully poor - something the All Blacks definitely won’t be tomorrow morning.

IT’S the hope that kills you.

What if England can stun New Zealand and end their reign over the rugby world? What if Wales can give head coach Warren Gatland the perfect send-off?

There are two mouth-watering semi-final showdowns to look forward to and not one single player from any of the four teams in action will take a backward step.

Eddie Jones has been up to his old tricks as England prepare for the All Blacks, saying: “No-one thinks we can win.”

That’s not what the talk will be amongst the England players, nine of whom played for the Lions as they drew in New Zealand just over two years ago.

For Wales the message is clear - play better than last week against France or you stand no chance.

And it’s hard to see Gatland’s men being caught short as the Springboks come into view.

An England v Wales final is 12/1. There’s a joke about backing that, but we can hope, can’t we?

You have to think the eventual tournament winners will come from England versus New Zealand.

The All Blacks were made pre-tournament favourites for a reason and their efficient swatting of Ireland in the last eight showed they’re living up to the hype.

I suspect they’ll edge this one but I can’t see them bulldozing England in the same way.

Eddie Jones has tactical nous in abundance and if his side’s defensive game is at its ferocious best then they have a chance.

In Owen Farrell, England have a reliable match-winner who could potentially give them the edge in a close contest.

Warren Gatland’s men laboured badly against the French and were fortunate to progress.

After one false start in his comeback from a knee injury, centre Jonathan Davies’ return could be pivotal to his side’s hopes of securing a first ever World Cup final spot.

And their recent record against the Springboks is impressive with four successive wins.

Rassie Erasmus’ side held their own against New Zealand in their opener and suffocated the life out of a strong Japan side. Expect another attritional contest here with no more than five points in it.

I don’t profess to be a big rugby union fan but I’ve taken an interest with it being the World Cup and Wales tipped to do well.

So far they’ve done exactly that and are just 80 minutes away from reaching the final which would be a fantastic achievement and a fitting way to end Warren Gatland’s reign as head coach.

It wasn’t the greatest of performances in the quarter-finals against France but Wales dug deep and did what they had to do to reach the last four where I really do fancy their chances.

South Africa will also be feeling confident of going one step further but both my head and my heart say Wales can do it.

However, I don’t fancy England’s chances of becoming Wales’ opponents in the showpiece.

They come up against New Zealand who are defending champions and the best team in the tournament so it will take a monumental effort for England to upset the odds.
