A SPECIAL event has been organised in Caernarfon to raise funds for former Bangor City midfielder Danny Gosset.

The Celtest Foryd 5K Fun Run will take place on Sunday, November 24 in aid of the player, who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in August.

Close friend Andrew Cook, who also set up a crowdfunding page for Gosset that has raised more than £4,000 to date, is one of the lead organisers behind the event which is set to start at 10.30am with a 1km fun run for children.

This will be followed by the 5km run at 11am, with registration costing £10 for adults and £5 for children.

Mr Cook, said: "The reason behind the fundraising events is to help Danny and his family through a difficult time, offering both emotional and financial support.

"Danny is one of the nicest people you are likely to meet, and I have never heard anyone say anything different about him."

The ex-Wales C international has enjoyed a phenomenal career within the domestic game so far, turning out for high-profile clubs such as Bala Town, Rhyl, The New Saints and Cefn Druids in addition to the Citizens.

He has been undergoing chemotherapy at the Christie hospital, Manchester and was diagnosed following a series of tests after complaining of hip pain during the Lakesiders’ pre-season programme.

Gosset has previously thanked the North Wales football community for the support and donations since the news was made public, and the talented 25-year-old has set his sights on returning to action at some stage this season providing treatment goes well.
