MICHAEL BAKARE is starting to get into his stride again and the Connah’s Quay Nomads striker insists there is more to come from him.

Bakare scored for the third game in a row when he found the back of the net in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Newtown which saw Nomads continue their unbeaten start in the Cymru Premier.

It was the second league game in a row that Bakare was on target, adding to the goal he also scored in the Scottish Challenge Cup third round win against Cove Rangers.

Although he hasn’t started as many games as he would like, Bakare, who won the Welsh Premier League Player of the Season award last season, is now beginning to fire ahead of Sunday’s game against Penybont at The Deeside Stadium.

“I have got three goals now, scoring in the last two league games, and also got one in the Scottish Cup,” said Bakare.

“I just try and take my chances when they come and I am starting to find a bit of form but I am still not there.

“I am not exactly where I want to be but that will come with games.

“I have only started half the games we have played, including the Europa League; I think I have started about six of the 12 games, so hopefully I play more and score more.”

Nomads, who are third in the table and unbeaten after seven games to sit four points behind leaders Barry Town United, entertain a Penybont side who clinched their first victory since winning promotion to the top-flight on Saturday when they beat Airbus 3-1.

Somewhat an unknown quantity, Bakare won’t be taking The Bont, now 10th in the table, lightly.

“I’ve seen some footage of them and it will be a tough game,” said the former Wrexham frontman.

“We don’t know much about them but we found last year how hard a game is when you don’t know what to expect.

“Hopefully they don’t know much about us, although I doubt that is the case.

“It will be nice to score another goal which will hopefully help us win.”

Nomads head into the game after a hard-fought penalty shoot-out win in the Welsh League Cup at Guilsfield on Wednesday night.

Jamie Insall scored for Nomads in the 1-1 draw before Andy Morrison’s men won 5-3 on penalties.

“Great credit to Guilsfield,” said Morrison. “They made it hard for us but we got there in the end.”
