HUW GRIFFITHS has labelled Cefn Druids’ quickfire return down south as “madness.”

Druids only made the 285-mile round trip to Barry Town United’s Jenner Park on Sunday, but will be back on the road in five days time as they head to the capital to face Cardiff Met.

That’s another 270-mile round trip for Druids, taking their tally to not far off 600 miles in the space of six days - and boss Griffiths isn’t overly happy with the fixture schedule.

“We had Barry on a Sunday and now we play Cardiff Met, who we usually play away on a Sunday, next Saturday,” said Griffiths. “It’s madness.

“It will be gruelling for the lads. I suppose every team has to make those trips during the season, but to do them back-to-back inside a week is tough.

“They are two tough games in six days, as well, and then we play Bala at home, so that’s three difficult fixtures in a row.”

Griffiths’ mood wouldn’t have improved as they lost 1-0 at the Cymru Premier leaders, Chris Hugh scoring the only goal of the game in the 41st minute.

Daniel Gosset, who spent last season on loan at Druids, has revealed he has been living with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Since being diagnosed in August, he has been undergoing treatment at the Christie Hospital in Manchester.

In a statement released on Bala Town’s website, the player (pictured above) said: “I count myself lucky that I’m able to get the best possible care to overcome this.

"The support I’ve received since the diagnosis has been incredible and I’m truly grateful to everyone who has been in contact.

“During the Europa League play-offs I suspected something was wrong as I was suffering from an unusual pain in my left leg. After weeks of rest during the close season, unfortunately nothing changed. I would like to thank Ffiona Evans, our physiotherapist at Bala for encouraging me to have further tests. This encouragement led to the diagnosis.

“A massive thank you also to everyone at Bala Town, from the manager and players to all the staff for their support over these past few months. I’m proud to be part of this special club and will do everything in my power to be back on the pitch at Maes Tegid as soon as possible.”

Gosset is a household name within Welsh football having turned out for the likes of Rhyl, The New Saints and Bangor City before moving to Bala in 2018.

He also played in the Football League for Oldham in 2013/14 and represented Wales at C level, where he made his international debut against England in March 2018.
