FLINT TOWN UNITED moved up to second in the Cymru North after romping to a huge win at home to Llangefni Town courtesy of two hat-tricks.

A 7-0 win for the Silkmen leaves the team five points behind the league leaders, Prestatyn Town, albeit having played a game less than the current table-toppers.

Nathan Brown and Mark Cadwallader both struck trebles which added to a second-half strike by Danny Andrews in a ruthless display at the Essity Stadium.

For Flint, it is the perfect preparation for their huge test against Airbus tomorrow night in the Third Round of the Welsh League Cup.

Flint Town boss Niall McGuiness said: “It was a good performance from the team.

“The lads did what was asked of them and it should give us confidence going into Tuesday’s game against Airbus.

“It will be a great chance to test ourselves against the league champions who are now a league above us. But winning 7-0 should give us confidence and help our players grow.

“I always like to keep a clean sheet but on the flip side it’s positive to score goals, especially when you get goals from three different players. We were effective in both boxes.”

Brown put the hosts ahead midway through the first half before he doubled his tally 10 minutes later.

Cadwallader then put the Silkmen in complete control as he struck shortly before the break to give Flint a 3-0 lead at half-time.

Brown sealed his hat-trick after the restart before Cadwallader repeated the act with a second-half double before Danny Andrews got in on the act to seal a comprehensive win.

Leaders Prestatyn Town needed two goals in the last 14 minutes to pick up a 2-1 win at struggling Porthmadog, who went ahead through John Owens. But Rob Hughes’ penalty and Jack Higgins, four minutes from time, secured the win.

Llandudno returned from their derby date at Bangor City with all three points after Alfons Fosu-Mensah netted the winner. Aldair Neto and Emmanuel Agyemang scored for The Citizens but Dean Seager, Robbie Parry and Fosu-Mensah won it for the visitors.

Conwy Borough’s Corrig McGonigle and Ruthin Town’s Llyr Morris scored in a 1-1 draw while it ended 0-0 between Rhyl and Penrhyncoch.
