DANNY JELLICOE can’t wait for Corwen to lock horns with rivals Ruthin Town in tonight’s derby clash.

Just 12 miles separate the two teams, who know each other very well, and vital points are at stake as they prepare to do battle at the War Memorial Ground this evening.

Corwen have come up short in their attempts to pick up a positive result since winning promotion to the second-tier, suffering defeats at the hands of Llandudno, Prestatyn and Llanrhaeadr.

But one win can spark an upturn in fortunes, and there is no time like the present.

“It’s a huge game which will be played in-front of a great crowd,” said Corwen boss Jellicoe. “It’s going to be a great game and everyone is really looking forward to it.

“It will go down a treat if we can come away with a win in what will be a great occasion.”

Despite starting the season with a hat-trick of defeats, Jellicoe insists that Corwen are remaining calm.

“We were under no illusions that it was going to be difficult,” said Jellicoe, pictured.

“Our 6-1 defeat to Prestatyn doesn’t look too bad after Gresford’s result and it’s very, very early days.”

Jellicoe, who looks set to lose the services of Sam Henry, is “hopeful of a couple” of new signings before the window shuts on Monday.

Guilsfield, who drew 1-1 with Ruthin on Tuesday, host Llanfair United tomorrow, while Conwy Borough entertain Llangefni Town.
