FRUSTRATION was the name of the game for Buckley Town and Gresford Athletic as they suffered Cymru North defeats.

Buckley Town failed to follow up their 3-2 success over Porthmadog as they stepped into the unknown to lose 3-1 at Bangor City, while 10-man Gresford were beaten 5-1 by title favourites Prestatyn Town.

Callum Humphries cancelled out Azizou Zoumbare’s opener as Buckley and Bangor went in all-square at the break, but the latter added his second, and the Citizens’ third after Francesco Serafino had struck to hand Stephen Vaughan Jnr’s side victory.

“It was a frustrating night,” said Buckley boss Dan Moore. “It was tough going into the game not knowing much about them.

“But we missed a one-on-one at 0-0, and even when we went 1-0 down we got ourselves back in the game through Callum’s header.

“We didn’t want half-time to come, but we let ourselves down in the second-half. When they got back in-front the game became disjointed with fouls and the ball spending a lot of time out of play.

“Bangor were clever and we lacked a bit of sharpness towards the end after playing two games in four days after not playing since August 3.”

Gresford director of football Steve Halliwell, meanwhile, believes his side were beaten by champions-elect Prestatyn Town.

Ashton Williams’ straight red card five minutes in meant Gresford faced an uphill battle, even if they went in-front soon after through Jordan MacCarter.

Jordan Davies bookended Prestatyn’s scoring with a hat-trick from Rob Hughes - who also missed a penalty nine minutes after converting a spot-kick - in between.

Halliwell was left to reflect on what might have been, explaining: “I was angry because Joe Davies has taken a blow to the mouth - his front teeth are loose - and then Josh Griffiths has gone down with a head injury, but play has been allowed to continue and 10 seconds later Ashton gets sent-off.

“It shouldn’t have happened and even with 11 men on the pitch it would have been a tough night for us. We got in-front, but once they equalised it was one-way traffic.

“What was pleasing is that at 4-1 down it could have gone on to be eight, nine or 10, but the players rolled their sleeves up and played for the badge.”

Flint Town United followed up their 1-0 win at Colwyn Bay with a 5-3 success over Conwy Borough.

Mark Cadwallader (2), Alex Titchiner, Andy Brown and Brandon Burrows scored for Flint, who made it a tough watch for boss Niall McGuinness as Corrig McGonigle (2) and Rob Jones were allowed to net for Conwy.

"It was a good game for the neutral!" said McGuinness. "It's another three points ticked off, but it wasn't my type of game and credit must go to Conwy for causing us plenty of problems."

Corwen slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Llanrhaeadr, who made it back-to-back wins through Iwan Williams.

"We played really well," said Corwen boss Danny Jellicoe. "We should have gone in at the break in-front, but we couldn't and a little bit of quality from their striker has won it for them."

Llandudno beat Rhyl 2-0 and Ruthin drew 1-1 at Guilsfield, while, in the Welsh Alliance, Sam Jones scored two and was sent-off as Greenfield beat Glan Conwy 2-1.
