NIALL MCGUINNESS was delighted as Flint Town United “answered some questions” in style to beat Colwyn Bay 1-0.

Mark Cadwallader’s second minute strike was enough to hand Flint, who started the game with five 19-year-olds in their XI, a very good three points.

“It’s a massive win,” said McGuinness. “We managed to grind it out.

“I asked some questions of the lads, because for the first time since I’ve been here I asked some questions of them after we lost the battle against Rhyl.

“The lads answered some questions and it was a very good three points - one of the best victories I’ve had as a manager.”

And McGuinness believes those three points could look even better at the end of the season.

“I genuinely believe that no-one else will go there and beat Colwyn Bay,” declared McGuinness. “We’ve 100 per cent shown our character and shown what type of lads we have at this club.”

On giving youth a chance, McGuinness, who became the youngest top-flight manager in Europe at just 24 when he took charge of Rhyl, is delighted to able to blood a fresh crop of talent.

“I’m happy to give youth a chance, I’m a young manager myself,” said McGuinness. “But these players are only playing because they are good enough to be out there.”

Bangor City finally got their season up and running, but they were held to a goalless draw at Conwy Borough, who visit Flint tomorrow night.

Citizens boss Stephen Vaughan gave hosts Conwy credit, tweeting: “A 0-0 draw not really what we wanted yesterday but credit to @ConwyBoroughFC frustrated us throughout.”

Bangor are back in action tomorrow evening against Buckley Town, who kicked off their campaign with a 3-2 home success over Porthmadog.

Aron Williams, Josh Jones and an own goal handed Dan Moore's men all three points.

Buckley could even afford Aled Bellis to miss a penalty against Porthmadog, who hit back through a spot-kick from Jay Gibbs and a strike by Gethin Thomas.
