SURVIVAL is the name of the game as Corwen prepare for their first Cymru North fixture.

Danny Jellicoe’s Corwen head to Llandudno tomorrow, the two teams set to clash having been two leagues apart last term.

And while Llandudno represents a tough start for Corwen, Jellicoe doesn’t expect the assignments to get any easier throughout the entire 2019/20 season.

With that in mind, Jellicoe is keen to see his side retain their second-tier status this term.

“We are under no illusions about how difficult it’s going to be this season,” said Jellicoe, who saw Tom Williams, pictured, and Sam Henry score in a 2-0 Cymru Premier League Cup success over Berriew, before they lost by the same score against top-tier Caernarfon in the second round last weekend.

“Looking at it there are no easy games and they will come thick and fast.

“We have got Prestatyn in the second game, and then Ruthin at home and Colwyn Bay will be coming to us.

“It’s going to be tough, but we are really excited.

“If we can retain the league status, that will be great for the following season.

“But it will be a huge test, week in, week out.”

Elsewhere tomorrow, fellow new boys Llanfair United play host to Ruthin Town, Llanrhaeadr entertain Penrhyncoch in a battle between two teams that narrowly avoided relegation last term, and Conwy Borough make their way to Porthmadog.
