Chirk saw their eight-game winning run come to an abrupt end as Sentinel Seconds recorded a surprise three-wicket away win six days ago, Swarbrick’s side slipping to second in the table behind Wellington Seconds as a result.

All-rounder Swarbrick knows his side are ready to make amends for that performance as they visit rock-bottom Welshpool tomorrow afternoon.

“We lost to the better team on the day,” said Swarbrick. “I am are dying to get back out there because I hate losing at the best of times.

“I said to the lads that the defeat should hurt, but that will only make us more determined to bounce back and more determined not to feel like we did on Saturday night again.

“I could tell that that the defeat hurt because of how quiet the changing room was, and now it’s up to us to put things right.”

And Chirk’s determination to right the wrongs of last weekend means that Welshpool may find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“It’s one game that we are really up for, especially after last week,” said Swarbrick.

The catalyst for Chirk’s unwelcome defeat was a poor batting display that saw the Wrexham-based outfit post 121 after slipping to 47 for six.

“It was one of the worst batting performances in the last three years and that’s saying something after not winning a game last season in the North Wales League,” said Swarbrick.

“Eight of us got ourselves out, we gifted them our wickets and they didn’t do that, they dug in a bit better than we did.”

Chirk’s victory chances are enhanced by the return of Wynn Jones and James Carter, while Gareth Partridge could also be available.

“To have those three back only strengthens the side as we look to beat Welshpool,” added Swarbrick, who is without Frank MacDonald-Brown for the trip.

Chirk Seconds, meanwhile, continue their Division Eight title challenge with a home encounter against Condover Seconds.
