AIRBUS will target another 14-game winning streak this season after losing their unbeaten record, says assistant manager Andy Thomas.

The Wingmakers’ imperious run was halted by a 1-0 defeat at Flint last weekend, their first league defeat of the campaign.

Thomas is adamant the setback will not derail his side’s title ambitions and expects a strong reaction in tomorrow’s home clash with Llanrhaeadr.

He said: “It’s frustrating to lose the unbeaten streak, obviously, but winning 14 on the bounce is a brilliant record.

“We should be proud of it, because it’s a record that probably won’t be repeated again in this division.

“There really wasn’t much in the Flint game, but the longer you go unbeaten, the more determined other teams are to beat you.

“We’d got used to that, but now it’s a case of picking ourselves up and trying to do the same again.

“The squad here has the quality and the depth to go another run, so why can’t we do it again?”

The Flintshire club still boast a healthy 10-point lead over second-placed Porthmadog, while Flint are 12 points behind with a game in hand.

And Thomas believes his side will be out to reaffirm their title credentials tomorrow.

“I think it’s important we put in a strong performance against Llanrhaeadr,” he added.

“The team talk takes care of itself because I know the lads are desperate to get back out there on the pitch and prove that last weekend was an off day.

“We’re at home on a good playing surface, so we can play the quick attacking football we’ve played for most of the season already.

“We’re confident we can put things right and I know the lads will be desperate to go out there and get the Flint game out of their system with a big performance.”

Basement side Holyhead Hotspur host Conwy Borough in the league’s only other pre-Christmas fixture.

Hotspur have recorded just one win all season and are currently six points adrift at the foot of the table.

Struggling Borough are also in poor form, with a winless run that stretches back to late September.
