STEVE HALLIWELL wants his Gresford Athletic side to prove they have turned a corner in Saturday’s clash with Buckley Town.

The Colliers ended their four-game winless run by beating Conwy last weekend, netting twice in the first half to clinch a 2-1 success at Y Morfa.

Halliwell ranked the win as one of his most pleasing with the club and has now called for consistency after a patchy campaign to date.

He said: “It’s been a tough season and there have been times where I’ve questioned the attitude and commitment of some of the players.

“But credit where it’s due - we played very well in awful conditions at Conwy.

“Even though we travelled with six players missing, the lads put their bodies on the line and produced a performance to be proud of down there.

“The test now is to show those qualities again, to build on that result and to find some form.”

Halliwell has been impressed with Buckley since their return to the Alliance, and admits that his side were outfought in the 3-0 defeat at Buckley in August.

He added: “We underestimated them last time. They’re well-organised and compact, so I expect it to be a tight game

“I’ve challenged our players to take points from every game this month and so far we’ve done that.

“We really need three points from this one to push into that top half of the table and put some daylight between ourselves and the teams below.”

Buckley endured a poor November, losing all three league games and dropping to mid-table.

Last weekend’s battling 1-0 win at Penrhyncoch halted their slide, with manager Dan Moore now targeting another positive result despite contending with a depleted first team squad.

He said: “We have Callum Humphries, Luke Blizzard, Chris Roberts and Phill Molyneux all unavailable due to injury.

“But we are looking to build on last Saturday’s excellent win and clean sheet at Penrhyncoch. We are expecting a tough game at Gresford, but we’re pleased to have Aled Bellis available again after suspension and he will add some depth to our selection options.”

Gresford are buoyed by the return of attacking duo Tom Freeman and Sam Molyneux, and full-back Ben Burrows.
