IT looks as though it will be a long season for Flint Phoenix B and Llangollen in Division One of the North East Wales Badminton League.

Mold A were on hand to record a 7-1 away success over Llangollen, who saw Kim Yeap and Lynn Coxey produce a spirited performance in defeat to Lloyd Tranter and Debbie Walker, 21/13, 21/16.

And Flint Phoenix B were also heavily beaten as Rossett A clinched an 8-0 success, which went some way to atoning for their whitewashing at the hands of Flint Phoenix A last week.

Rossett's Rachel Twiss and Toyoko Cornelius combined at second ladies to fend off Jane Liddle and Holly Gill 21/19, 18/21, 21/17.

Mold B could well take one of the top-flight strugglers' places as they continued their Division Two promotion push with a 8-0 thrashing of Rossett B.

Hazel Davies and Rory Wilkinson came closest to winning for Rossett as they were beaten 21/18, 17/21, 17/21 by Mold duo Joe Nesbitt and Lili Thomas.

Rossett B did go on to redeem themselves somewhat, putting visitors Hawarden to the sword in a 7-1 success.

Hawarden’s lone winners were Anna John and Lorna Kernahan, who combined to beat Hazel Davies and Marie Jones 21/13 and 22/20.

Prestatyn A's march towards the Division Three title continued as they cruised to an 8-0 success over under-strength Holywell B, who arrived two players short.

Match of the evening was at first mixed as Prestatyn’s Glyn Watson and Sonia Penlington eased their way to a 17/21, 21/8, 21/18 success over Elsie Gregory and George Hood.

Things didn't get much better for Holywell B at Llanferres C, who ran out 7-1 victors.

Holywell's winners were at second mixed as Linda Roberts and John Speed combined to beat Gareth Davies and Moira Bonar 13/21, 21/15, 21/13.
