There was no shortage of drama in the Under-19s Challenge Cup quarter-finals as Rhydymwyn, Llay Welfare, Coedpoeth and Brickfield Rangers booked last four spots.

Rhydymwyn's clash with visiting Mold Alex went the distance, the hosts triumphing on penalties after the 120 minutes had finished 2-2.

Nik Golebiowski and Sion Evans scored Rhydymwyn's goals with Tom Blackwell and Bradley Haycock helping Mold force spot-kicks.

Keon Davies was the Llay hero as his extra time strike secured a 3-2 success at Penyffordd.

Rhys Holt and Kieran Jones found the net for Llay with Matthew Butchard and Davies forcing the addition 30 minutes, during which the latter snatched victory.

Ross Hardy-Partington was Coedpoeth's extra time saviour as he helped record a 3-2 win against Chirk.

Scoring for Coedpoeth in normal time were Kyle Stocker-Jones and Owen Slawson, while Niall Freeman and Harry Evans hit back for Chirk.

Brickfield Rangers had the smoothest progression as they won 2-0 against Holywell Town, Max Northall scoring both goals.

Sunday's fixtures: Coedpoeth Utd v Mynydd Isa Spartans; Holywell Town v Mold Alex; Llay Welfare Colts v Chirk AAA; Penyffordd v FC Brickfield; Rhydymwyn v Brymbo Lodge.

Airbus, Cefn Druids and Connah's Quay Nomads were all victorious in the Welsh Premier Development League.

Table topping Druids made light work of visiting Bangor City, Shaun Colley's side running out 4-1 winners courtesy of goals from Alex Buxton (2), Isaac Dawson and Lewis George.

Colley gave his thoughts on the performance, tweeting: "Today was never going to be easy players remained focused & we where clinical when needed.

"No margin for errors and tight at the top but delighted we continue our progress. Have to be pleased."

Second placed Airbus remain just a point behind Druids after thumping Newtown 5-0.

Stuart McHarrie (2), Oli Lanceley (2) and Connor Hughes did the damage for Airbus and left boss Rick Chapman pleased.

He said: "We knew it was going to be a very tough game, we spoke in the week about how Newtown hadn’t been well beaten all season, they don’t score many goals but don’t concede many either.

"We worked this week on moving the ball quicker as we thought they would drop off us.

"It was our best performance of the season. In the first-half, the lads played some great football and created some great chances and scored some great goals."

Nomads, five points off top spot, but with a game in hand, were 2-1 winners over Llandudno, who played most of the second-half with 10-men.

Goals from Tom Weir and Jacob Barrett gave Nomads control of proceedings before Joe Carey reduced the deficit.

Nomads boss Iain Bennett said: "I thought the boys played well, especially in the first-half. Overall the quality wasn't quite there, but the work ethic, drive and willingness to go forward and do the right things was.

"I thought we were fully deserving of the 2-0 scoreline at half time, but I'm disappointed with the second-half with them going down to 10-men so early on and us not being able to find to kill the game off with a third goal.

"They probably played better with 10-men and caused us some dramas, but the boys were good enough over the 90 minutes to be credited with the three points.

"It wasn't the best of performances, but it's a good result on the back of a good week."

Rhyl were commanding 5-1 winners at Caernarfon, while The New Saints claimed a 3-1 home success over Bala.
