RGC forward Evan Yardley is expecting a tough test when his side return to action this Friday at Cardiff.

The Principality Premiership clash will be shown live on BBC Scrum V, with the Gogs making the long trip to the capital after a weekend off to regroup following their impressive victory over Bargoed.

Mark Jones’ men come up against a Cardiff side who are in tremendous form of late, and they are currently on a five match unbeaten run that sees them occupy fifth place in the standings.

The corresponding fixture last season saw the Gogs’ put on a sensational display of attacking rugby to come away with a 61-24 victory on Easter Monday, and Yardley is under no illusions as to the task facing his squad this weekend.

He said: “We knew every game was going to be hard this year as we have found out in the beginning part of season if we are not playing to our best then it will be hard to pick to up points.

“As a group we need to be at our very best against Cardiff as they are on a good run of games. It’s going to be a physical challenge but one we are all looking forward to.”

The Gogs could move above Friday’s opponents and back into the top six if they can secure their second victory in succession, with their re-arranged home fixtures against Bedwas and Llanelli taking place over the next fortnight at Stadiwm Zip World (11am).
