FLINT PHOENIX A proved a point as they beat the club's B team 7-1 in Division One of the North East Wales League.

Showcasing their talent, B team duo Phil Roberts and Alex Graham overcame Matt Sprake and Jordan Donnelly 21/17, 19/21, 21/16 at first men's.

Mold A held their nerve to beat visiting Llanferres A 5-3, Lloyd Tranter and Joe Nesbitt amongst their winners as they saw off Dave Clough and Duncan Church 21/16, 18/21, 21/16.

Llangollen, a player short, came unstuck at home to Rossett A, who secured a 6-2 away win.

Jane Jones and Viv Davies combined at first ladies for one of Llangollen's victories, beating Rachel Twiss and Toyoko Cornelius 13/21, 21/15, 24/22.

The new season might be in its' infancy, but Eros look destined for promotion, and they put down a marker with an 8-0 whitewashing of Rossett B.

Player of the match Jenny Broughall combined with Fiona Reid to beat Jo Sanderson and Marie Jones 21/14, 21/10.

There was nothing to separate Holywell B and visiting Mold C as they played out an entertaining 4-4 draw in Division Three.

Match of the evening came at first ladies as Holywell's Linda Roberts and Elsie Gregory won a three-game thriller against Paulina Matsko and Eve Ellis 16/21, 21/18, 21/18.

Prestatyn A continued their winning run with victories over Denbigh B and Llanferres C.

Jane Hodgson and Claire Atmore impressed as Prestatyn whitewashed Denbigh 8-0, the duo beating Emma Taylor and Mared Roberts 19/21, 21/17, 21/19.

Prestatyn followed that up with a 5-3 success over Llanferres, who saw Sam Harrison and Gareth Davies collect one of their wins, beating Steven Hodgson and Paul Armstrong 15/21, 22/20, 21/15.

The first round of the Challenge Cup and Plate competition gets underway this week with Flint Phoenix C (+8) facing Llanferres C (+10), Mold C (+12) tackling Prestatyn B (+10) and Holywell B (+10) meeting Denbigh B (+8).
