Cymru Alliance leaders Airbus continued their seemingly unassailable march to the title as a 2-0 home win against Denbigh Town clinched a 12th successive league victory.

A goal in each half from n-form marksman Asa Hamilton clinched the result, which maintained his side's healthy 12-point advantage at the summit.

The opening exchanges were evenly-contested until the hosts took a 19th minute lead when a fine cross from Curtis Strong found Hamilton unmarked and the powerful forward headed into the far corner of the net.

Neither side was able to assert too much authority on the remainder of the half, with Airbus going closest to extending their lead when Matty McGinn's rasping shot from a free kick just cleared the crossbar.

Early in the second half, Curtis Strong showed good pace down the left wing before crossing for Hamilton, whose near post header drew a fine save from Denbigh keeper Craig Vernon..

But the reprieve was only temporary as Hamilton slotted home his second of the afternoon from just inside the area to make it 2-0 on 53 minutes.

With a two-goal advantage, the home side were comfortable and Denbigh pushed in vain for a foothold in the game as Jordan Barrow's 66th minute effort from distance sailed wide of the Airbus goal.

The Wingmakers almost added a third in the final 10 minutes with Vernon parrying a low-drive from Joe Palmer, before gathering at the second attempt.

Assistant Airbus boss Andy Thomas said: "I thought we controlled the game from start to finish and that the scoreline probably doesn't reflect how dominant we were in the game.

"What's most pleasing is that we're maintaining a really strong workrate in every game and that the winning attitude is always there no matter who we play this season.

"Asa's done really well for us since coming in and I think he's thriving here because of the chances we're creating in every game and the competition for places among our forwards.

"The squad's as strong as it's ever been here and it seems like we're getting stronger each week."

Teenage full-back Jake Hampson fired a stunning injury-time winner for Flint Town United as they edged a five-goal thriller at Prestatyn Town.

The Silkmen are making a habit of netting late goals and Hampson's fine strike capped a fine away day win to cap an incident-packed clash at Bastion Road.

Flint opened up a 2-1 lead before the interval after a double from Richie Foulkes, the first a penalty after just three minutes, cancelled out Dan Roberts' 19th minute equaliser.

But a positive opening 45 minutes ended on a sour note when Flint's Frankie Antoine was shown a straight red card for a head butt.

A dramatic second half followed as Prestatyn made their numerical advantage count when Danny Davies levelled the scores on 66 minutes with a powerful left footed effort that flew beyond Flint keeper Aaron Jones.

Davies was then clumsily brought down inside the Flint box, but Prestatyn spurned the chance to take the lead when Jones saved superbly from Ian Griffiths' spot-kick.

The momentum of the game shifted on 78 minutes when Prestatyn midfielder Chris Bennett was dismissed for a heavy challenge, before team mate Dave Hayes quickly followed him for dissent.

Despite playing the closing stages with nine men, the hosts looked to have held on for a point until deep into injury-time when 16-year-old Hampson cut inside to beat his marker before unleashing an unstoppable effort that flashed into the back of the net to snatch victory.

The hard-fought result extended Flint's unbeaten run to six games and kept them second in the table.

Delighted boss Niall McGuinness said: "I thought we played really well in stages of the game and that we had to adapt our play at times too.

"Going a man down changed the complexion of the game for us just before half-time we had to adopt more of dogged defensive approach after that.

"But after we've conceded an equaliser, Aaron's made an important penalty save and kept us in the game.

"I thought our fitness levels were excellent and the way we kept going was really impressive before Jake's popped up with a screamer late on to win it for us.

"They've had a bit of a resurgence lately so we're really happy to come away from there with the points."

'Gutless' was Steve Halliwell's blunt assessment of Gresford Athletic's 2-0 defeat at Ruthin Town.

The Colliers boss was left fuming by a lacklustre display from his injury-hit side, who failed to score for the seventh league game this term.

The injury-hit visitors' woes deepened when they lost central midfielder Jack Challenor inside the opening two minutes to a head injury.

Ruthin took the lead through Gwion Jones' strike on 21 minutes, before Gresford's woes were compounded soon after when right-sided midfielder Simon Smith pulled up with a hamstring problem.

The visitors laboured in the second half and were devoid of creativity as they failed to test Town keeper Ryan Goldston with any meaningful efforts on goal.

Despite creating little themselves, Ruthin ensured victory through Tom Mann's 89th minute strike on afternoon to forget for Gresford.

Halliwell said: "It was completely gutless from us.

"Yes there were injuries and we were forced to move players into unfamiliar positions, but there was a complete lack of desire on our part.

"I'm getting fed up of saying the same things, but failing to even have a shot on target with five strikers on the pitch is just unacceptable.

"We might have 15 points and not look in too much trouble right now, but three of the teams below us won yesterday and we're far from safe.

"Games like Ruthin are the type we need to be winning. they're a decent enough side and well-organised but we made them look like a top of the league side."

Holywell Town boss John Haseldin hailed a 'massive' victory for his side after their 2-0 triumph at fellow strugglers Holyhead Hotspur.

The Wellmen leapfrogged Denbigh Town into 13th place with only their third win of the season as they executed their game plan to perfection in swirling winds and heavy rain on Anglesey.

With the wind to their backs, Hotspur failed to penetrate a well-organised Holywell back line in a goalless first half with debutant Wellmen keeper Mike Platt doing well to tip a long-range effort from Mel McGuinness onto the crossbar

The visitors started the second half positively with a header from Josh Maldon and a long range strike from Paul Williams both drawing solid saves from Hotspur keeper Carl Jones.

The breakthrough came on 66 minutes when Steve Lewis rose highest to power home a header from Josh Sheridan's smart delivery.

And the result was put beyond doubt in injury-time when substitute Shaun Tuck scored with his first touch, latching on to to Maldon's through ball before rounding the keeper and slotting home to the delight of Holywell's rain-soaked travelling supporters.

Haseldin said: "It was massive win for us in game where we've gone into with a game plan and executed it brilliantly in really challenging conditions.

"We frustrated them in the first half by limiting their time on the ball and we sensed they were starting to get a bit edgy.

"And we did everything right in the second half by showing quality in the right areas.

"Having Ste (Lewis) up front is a real asset and he's up there with the best strikers in this league and for Shaun Tuck to come on and score with his first touch just sealed a perfect away performance."

Buckley Town's seven-game unbeaten run in the league was ended by a 5-2 hammering by visitors Rhyl.

Dan Moore criticised an 'embarrassing' second half performance from his Buckley players, in which they conceded three time against Eddie Maurice-Jones' Lilywhites.

Mike Pritchard fired Rhyl ahead on 18 minutes, before Kristian Pierce doubled their lead from the penalty spot following a foul b Buckley keeper Joe Makaruk.

Kieron Moore then gave the hosts hope of a comeback when he netted on 37 minutes to reduce arrears before the break.

But those hopes were extinguished soon after the restart when Matt Cook's Mazy run culminated in strong finish to make it 3-1, before Matthew Worrall's neat turn an finish ensure victory on 80 minutes.

A late Aron Williams effort made it 4-2, before Cook notched his second in injury time to restore Rhyl's three-goal margin.

Town boss Moore said: ‘Our second half performance was embarrassing and the worst I’ve seen since the start of last season.

"In the first half we were okay, created chances and were well in the game at half time.

"We were still not where we would like to have been, but at least we were competing across the pitch.

"We have let ourselves down with the second half performance and I’d like to apologise to everyone who came to support us.

"It was unacceptable and we’ll be doing everything possible to put things right next Saturday."

Bangor City ran riot with a 9-0 hammering of visitors Llanrhaeadr, Conwy Borough were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Penrhyncoch, while third-placed Porthmadog triumphed 2-0 at Guilsfield.
