QUEEN’S PARK boss Dave Evans has praised Saturday’s opponents, Lex for playing a big part in making sure their club is still going.

Ahead of their Premier Division clash, Evans spoke of the help the Stansty Park outfit gave his club following the death of former manager Martin Ford.

“Last season all involved at Lex worked closely with him to ensure The Park completed a season with the Cymru Alliance.

“It is a fixture that Martin Ford would have had a warm heart for. Without their help this would not have been possible.”

Corey Smart and Tony Jones are out, Tristan Wagner could return and Aled Powell is desperate for a starting place against his old club.

“Club captain Mikey Latham has hit a good run of form as of late and will be looking to carry us forward in a fixture that could see us briefly sit top of the league and how Martin Ford would have loved that,” added Evans.

Jamie Pugh, Sean Jones and Craig Griffiths are all in line for recalls for Lex.

Rhostyllen entertain Llay Welfare, who have seen Matt Worrall return to Rhyl.

“We will definitely miss his goals but in his absence it will give other players the chance to take the spotlight,” said Llay boss Mike Gadie. “Big performances are required this week for players to earn their chance to play against Airbus next week.”

Saltney Town face Penycae without Jordan O’Brien and Danny Burgess while Ste Chiocchi and Jack Roberts are only rated 50/50 chances to play.

Ben Barratt will return from suspension and keeper Dan Cooper is back.

Visitors boss Ian Andrews said: “We have got a run of league games now and need to get points on the board.

“We might freshen it up this week as we have a big squad to choose from, a couple of players will need fitness tests but we’ll have Josh Williams, Rhys Powell, Ramone Nelson and Chris Piney coming back.”

Division One leaders Plas Madoc head to Coedpoeth and manager Ryan Edwards said: “We are chasing 11 straight league wins but we don’t think it will be a easy game as Coedpoeth are in good form.”

Coedpoeth’s 18-year-old Dion Lewis keeps his place in the squad while teenage twins Olly and Cammy Lewis are back from injury with Joe Edwards and Mike Taylor also returning.

This weekend marks the fourth anniversary since the passing of former Johnstown player Matty Jones and ahead of their home game with Llangollen, manager Llion Drake said: “It will forever be a date in the Johnstown calendar where we will pay tribute to one of the village’s biggest characters.

“Myself and all of the players will give everything they’ve got to get a result as we remember our dear friend.”

Llangollen will be without Jordan Dooley and Sam Gostage but boss Gareth Lloyd added: “We hope to have a new striker signed in time.”
