RGC West claimed bragging rights with a 34-5 victory over RGC East in the Dewar Shield.

The young hopefuls turned in a fabulous display on the new 4G surface at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay on Friday, October 26, and the game attracted a huge amount of support despite the difficult conditions.

There were a host of impressive displays from the talented West side, who were skippered by Rydal Penrhos pupil and Sale Sharks Academy member Josh Lynch.

Their forward line was in dominant mood throughout, with the likes of Oliver Davies (St David’s College), Tai Taylor (Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy) and Huw Davies (Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen) catching the eye, and Ysgol Botwnnog star Eban Pari dictated proceedings incredibly well from the scrum-half position.

The assured boot of Tomos Hughes (Dyffryn Ogwen) was another huge asset at the Gogs’ disposal on the night, and a dynamic back-line consisting of Gethin Jolly (Ysgol Eifonydd), Dei Owen (Ysgol Botwnnog), Deio Williams (Ysgol Botwnnog) and Cain Jones (Dyffryn Conwy) all demonstrated impressive ball-handling skills that contributed significantly to their overall victory.

They also had the luxury of calling on some outstanding replacements, with Dion Owen-Jones (Ysgol Bodedern), Michael Nicholls (Ysgol John Bright) and Owain Morris (Dyffryn Conwy) all providing energy from the bench.
