League leaders Airbus left it late to preserve their 100 per cent record with a 2-1 win at Buckley Town.

The Wingmakers were made to battle for the points, with the home side running them closer than any of their Alliance opponents so far this season.

Assistant Airbus boss Andy Thomas said :"It was a tough game, but we knew it would be.

"The most pleasing aspect for us was that we kept going in the game and always carried a threat even if we lacked quality in the final third for most of the game.

"Even though we left it late, we kept plugging away and got the result I fel we deserved overall.".

With neither side able to break the deadlock in a lively first half, it was the hosts that went closest to opening the scoring when Josh Jones' effort was scrambled off the line by the Airbus defence.

Dan Moore's Town side have impressed this term and, after a positive start to the second half, looked set to end the visitors' 10-game winning streak when they took the lead on 78 minutes from a swift counter attack, with Dylan Roberts applying the finish.

But Airbus upped the tempo in the final 10 minutes, with Kristian Platt prodding home the equaliser after his initial effort was saved by Buckley keeper Joe Makaruk.

And the visitors snatched all three poits in the 89th minute when substitute Lewis Buckley spun his marker from a long ball over the top before coolly slotting home.

Town boss Moore said: "We're massively disappointed because that performance deserved at least a point.

"We had a gameplan and executed it brilliantly until the final 10 minutes where we've let ourselves down with some schoolboy defending.

"I wouldn't mind if we'd been beaten by a much better team, but it was a case of us letting them back into the game with poor defensive errors really."

Richie Foulkes plundered an injury-time winner as Flint Town United consolidated second place in the table with a 1-0 home success against Gresford Athletic.

The visitors, who missed a first-half penalty, were hindered from the outset after a head injury forced ex-Flint goalkeeper Ben Jones off the field inside the opening two minutes.

With no replacement stopper available, centre back Joe Davies deputised and enjoyed a solid game before he was eventually beaten late on.

Relieved Flint boss Niall McGuinness said: "Being honest, the performance wasn't good enough at all.

"We didn't get going and there were probably five or six players who weren't at their best for us.

"Gresford will feel hard done by and probably deserved a point, but it's a credit to us that we showed the character to take three points when we're far from our best."

The hosts went close early on when Jack Lewis' powerfully hit shot struck the upright and bounced to safety.

On 25 minutes, Gresford were left ruing a great chance of their own when Owen Roberts headed a cross back across the six yard box for the unmarked Jordan Macarter, whose wayward effort missed the target.

Simon Smith almost put the Colliers ahead on 33 minutes when his goalbound shot from the edge of the box was blocked by Kyle Smyth.

The visitors then spurned their best chance to break the deadlock when they were awarded a penalty after a foul inside the box following a corner.

Jack Challoner's spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Aaron Jones, who also foiled a follow up attempt from the rebound as the half ended goalless.

The hosts emerged with renewed purpose after the restart as Foulkes' flicked header looked destined for the net before it was hacked clear.

Jones came to Flint's rescue on the hour mark, with another top quality save from Niall Freeman's fierce drive from 20 yards out.

Gresford were then indebted to Davies in the final 20 minutes as he saved well to thwart Kyle Smythe before repelling long-rage effort from substitute Brandon Burrows.

But the hosts' sustained pressure eventually told deep into time added on when Davies parried another effort from Smyth only for Foulkes to squeeze home the rebound from close range.

Gresford Athletic coach Steven Dale was left frustrated by the result and flt the battling Colliers deserved more.

He tweeted: "Absolutely gutted for the lads to lose a game in that manner is a real sucker punch! Playing 89 minutes with a Centre half in goal and to still dominate - we deserve more from the game! Lots of positives - fair play @joedavo6 for going in goal and best wishes to @BenH18blj."

A spirited second half revival saw Holywell Town claw back a two-goal deficit to salvage a 2-2 draw against Guilsfield at Halkyn Road.

The hosts began the contest well, with Sam Jones dragged an effort just wide after latching onto Steve Lewis' through ball.

But it was Guilsfield that broke the deadlock just before the interval when Sam Litchfield fired home on the rebound after Wellmen keeper Antoni Sarnowski had thwarted his initial effort.

That advantage was doubled in bizarre fashion just a minute into the second half when Sarnowski's clearance hit Guilsfield's Steve Blenkinsopp and ricocheted into the net.

The Wellmen responded well and reduced arrears minutes later when Lewis fired home from the penalty spot after he was felled in the area.

The goal lifted the Wellmen as they piled on the pressure and almost drew level on 55 minutes when Lewis' header smashed against the crossbar.

The leveller arrived 10 minutes later when substitute Shaun Tuck gathered a long ball out of defence and rounded the keeper before firing home from a tight angle.

Despite further chances for both sides the game ended all square, with Holywell boss John Haseldin hailing his side's battling qualities.

He said:"The result obviously wasn't what we wanted, but there were so many positives to take from the performance.

"We were unlucky to find ourselves two goals down, particularly in the way we conceded them.

"But earlier in the season our we might have folded and we'd have lost that game by four or five.

"But we showed a lot of spirit to drag ourselves back level. Credit to Shaun (Tuck) who's come off the bench and popped up with another great goal.

"He showed the right type of attitude for us on a day where we've also had three lads making their debuts for us and doing well.

"It's all really positive for us and it's another point we can build on now."
