ANDY MORRISON labelled Ryan Wignall an "embarrassment" on a night of frustration for Connah's Quay Nomads.

With Nomads pressing for a winning goal at Caernarfon, winger Wignall was shown a second yellow card - and subsequent red - for kicking the ball away.

And without Wignall, Nomads failed to find a way to goal as the two teams played out a goalless draw.

Morrison was furious with Wignall, declaring: "I'm not even going to mention the Wignall sending-off because the lad is an embarrassment to himself and the club for what he did.

"I can't keep defending him. I've stuck up for him year after year after year, but when you are making those decisions it shows a lack of respect for me and a lack of respect for the team.

"He will be punished accordingly."

Wignall's dismissal failed to ease Morrison's frustrations as the Nomads boss watched his side huff and puff in-front of goal.

"Up until the final third in the last two games, we've been exceptional," he said. "It's really, really, really frustrating.

"It again ranks amongst our best performances this season.

"We dominated possession, we had them pinned in, we've created opportunities, we've got into good areas, we've got our full-backs in behind, but we aren't even asking questions of the goalkeeper or getting shots off.

"It's really hard to take at the moment."

Nomads' preparations were disrupted by the late arrival of some members of the visitors' starting XI.

And Morrison was proud of his side's defensive play given the circumstances.

"There were four or five players who were outstanding, absolutely brilliant," he continued.

"A few turned up late. It's about trying to be professional, but half this squad are still part time players and they are trying to get away from work. They are turning up at 7.15-7.20pm and it's very difficult.

"When we get that right and go to the next level where you have 15, maybe 18 full time players, rather than half and half like we have at the moment, that side will improve as well."
