AIRBUS claimed the bragging rights as they maintained their Welsh Premier Development League title challenge with a 4-2 home win over Flint Town United.

The Wingmakers climbed to third in the table, four points adrift of Cefn Druids, courtesy of goals from George Peers (2), Oli Lanceley and Iwan Jones.

Airbus boss Rick Chapman was happy to see his side grind out victory against a Flint side that he's tipping for better things in the future.

"I am very pleased with the result, it wasn’t our greatest performance but we were able to grind out the win," said Chapman.

"Last season we had three tricky games against Flint in which they took the lead in all the games. We knew we had to start brightly, and at some point Flint would put us under a lot of pressure.

"Credit to Flint who have a lot of young lads who are very talented, they are certainly a team we will have to watch over the next 12 months."

Leaders Cefn Druids, who have played a game more than the chasing pack, extended their advantage at the summit to three points courtesy of a 5-3 home win over Newtown.

Tom Faithfull scored twice with Lewis George, Evan Woodall and Tyler Wilkinson also on target for Druids, who have given boss Shaun Colley plenty to ponder.

Colley tweeted: "Plenty to improve on in the defensive third but clinical in the opposite box. Can’t be unhappy scoring five goals."

Connah's Quay Nomads slipped to fourth after losing 2-1 at Bala Town, while Bangor are level on points with the Flintshire side after winning 2-1 at Llandudno.

The New Saints are up to second placed after a dominant 7-1 home winners over Caernarfon Town, Lewis Rees scoring a first-half hat-trick.

Brickfield Rangers, Llay Welfare Colts and Penycae booked places in the second round of the Under-19s Newfa Cup.

Tom Williams hit a hat-trick, Iwan Evans struck twice and Max Northall was also amongst the scorers as Brickfield Rangers beat Rhydymwyn 7-2. Sion Evans and Lewis Roberts replied for the losing side.

Josh Mazzarella (2), Rhys Powell and Tom Edwards struck as Penycae beat Coedpoeth 4-1, while Kian Davies, Kai Fisher and Kian Turton handed Llay a 3-0 success over Holywell.

In league action, FC Brickfield were 6-0 winners at Brymbo Lodge. Max Kalbida led the way with a hat-trick, while Harry Wheeler, Daniel Davies and Tom Jones also netted.

Dan Radford struck the only goal of the game as Mynydd Isa Spartans overcame Chirk AAA, while George Jones earned Mold Alex a point in their 1-1 home draw with Penyffordd.
