Bala Town ended their away day hoodoo with a 2-1 success at 10-man Carmarthen Town.

Steven Tames handed them an early lead, but the Old Gold were level at the break as Declan Carroll netted.

But Luke Bowen saw red for the hosts after two quickfire yellow cards, and Bala made their extra man count as Kieran Smith grabbed what proved to be the winner.

Bala defender Andy Burns was delighted to help end his side's wait for an away win

"It was something that was beginning to frustrate us," said Burns.

"We started quite well and deserved out lead, but we came off the pace, which is something we addressed at half time and after the game as well.

"Obviously if you come off the pace teams punish you, but thankfully we went on to get the winner."

Nev Powell was "very pleased" as Declan Walker's 80th minute penalty handed Aberystwyth a crucial 1-0 win at Llandudno, who had Zyaac Edwards sent-off.

"In the last two games we've kept clean sheets and when that happens you are going to have a chance to win football matches," said Powell.

"The lads worked hard. It wasn't a great game in the conditions with a swirling wind.

"It was a game where one goal would win it.

"It's a big three points for us."

Barry Town United are just three points off top spot courtesy of a 5-2 win against nine-man Llanelli.

Robbie Patten and Jonathan Hood twice put Barry in-front, but Joe Clarke and Lenny Evans cancelled those goals out.

But Clarke and Chris Thomas saw red for Llanelli as Barry scored three times in the final 12 minutes to run out winners, Chris Hugh, Clayton Green and Kayne McLaggon netting.

Luke Boundford, Nick Rushton and Neil Mitchell scored second-half goals as Newtown won 3-0 at Caernarfon.

Robins boss Chris Hughes said: "In the first-half we weren't great but the second-half showed just what we can do."
