HUW GRIFFITHS insists that Cefn Druids must "stop feeling sorry for themselves" if they are to turn their season around.

The Ancients have yet to hit the heights of last term, when they secured a surprise fifth placed finish before qualifying for the Europa League via the end of season play-offs.

The team they beat in the play-off final, Cardiff Met, visit The Rock tomorrow in ninth position, five points adrift of Christian Edwards' Archers, who occupy sixth spot.

But Griffiths knows all is not lost with 12 games of the first part of the season remaining, even if Tuesday's 3-1 defeat at Connah's Quay Nomads, in which Druids were leading 1-0 before missing a penalty to double their advantage, was a bitter pill to swallow.

"Ahead of Tuesday night we were only two points behind where we were last season," highlighted Griffiths. "We then went to Bangor and won 1-0 and that was the start of a run.

"There is no reason why we can't go on a winning run now. We've got Cardiff Met before games against Llandudno, Newtown, Carmarthen and Llanelli."

Griffiths does concede that improvements need to be made if Druids are to piece together a string of victories.

"We need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves," he continued. "I was quite pleased for long periods of the game against Connah's Quay, but we've got to play for 90 minutes.

"We've got to keep our intensity for the duration of the match and we've got to cut out some of our naive play, which comes down to managing the game better in certain periods."

Druids will be without the suspended Ashton tomorrow, but Alec Mudimu, Ryan Kershaw and Arek Piskorski all return.

Griffiths added: "It's good to have those three back against a decent Cardiff Met side.

"We get on really well as a group with them and we respect each other, but we know it will be a really tough game."

Bala should be good enough to pick up all three points at Carmarthen tomorrow.

That’s the opinion of central defender Stuart Jones, who knows victory is within the Lakesiders’ grasp providing they stop making mistakes.

Jones, who was frustrated by last weekend’s last-gasp 3-2 win over Newtown, in which Chris Venables, pictured, scored twice, said: “I think we should get the points we need.

“If we can stop conceding goals then we should be winning games every week.

“As soon as we stop making mistakes we will be flying.”

Aberystwyth assistant Gavin Allen has set his sights on a perfect six points from trips to Llandudno and Llanelli.

Nev Powell’s men visit Llandudno tomorrow, before heading to basement outfit Llanelli next Friday - two teams the Seasiders have already beaten this term.

Allen wants to complete a first phase double over the duo, saying: “Six points is a must for me, it’s a must for where we want to be, because the next two after that are against TNS and Cardiff Met.”

Caernarfon Town will be looking to force their way into the top six with victory over visiting Newtown tonight.

The Robins won the meeting between the two teams at Latham Park 2-0, and Canaries boss Sean Eardley is looking to avenge that defeat, but knows it won’t be easy.

“Newtown have been on a run of decent form and they come in off a result that they will want to correct,” said Eardley.

Barry Town can strengthen their top-six spot with a home win over Llanelli tonight.
