The Leader: HORSE RACING fans are in for a treat at Bangor-on-Dee on Thursday.

The North Wales course has taken on the abandoned jumps fixture from Exeter and has decided to allow free entry to all specators for the seven race card.

Racing will begin 1.45pm and gates will open at 12pm.

Free parking is also available and the public bar will be open.

Bangor’s General Manager, Jeannie Chantler said: “Exeter was abandoned on Monday and we were happy to offer our help.

“We’re assisting the horse racing industry by putting on the fixture and it will be free admission.”

Exeter were forced to cancel its first fixture of the season because of firm ground.

Due to the heatwave in the summer and lack of rain so far in the autumn, course officials were left with no option.

Conditions are good at Bangor so don’t miss Thursday’s Leader to pick up all Arthur Shone’s big race tips.
