CONNAH’S QUAY NOMADS cruised into the next round of the Welsh Premier League Cup with a 5-1 derby success over Airbus.

Quickfire goals from Jack Kenny and Craig Jones left visiting Airbus with a mountain to climb, before Rob Hughes added number three and four either side of the interval.

James Hooper gave the Cymru Alliance leaders something to smile about with a goal after good work from Brady McGilloway, but Ryan Wignall quickly made it 5-1 to Nomads, who saw the game out with ease to reach the quarter-finals.

Bala Town were equally impressive as they dispatched Flint Town United 6-1.

Kieran Smith helped himself to a hat-trick with Mike Hayes netting twice and Stuart J Jones also on target for Bala.

Ryan Smith grabbed the Flint consolation.

Llandudno also progressed as they overcame Rhyl 5-3. George Harry, Toby Jones, Alun Webb and John Owen (2) got the Llandudno goals.

Holders The New Saints will be looking to right some wrongs as they visit Prestatyn Town tonight.

The Saints suffered a shock 4-1 thumping at Cardiff Met on Sunday to slip to second in the top-flight table.

An angry Scott Ruscoe will make his feelings known with tonight’s team selection.

In the aftermath of their defeat, Ruscoe said: “The lads who deserve a game will be playing Wednesday and Saturday.”
