RGC head coach Mark Jones confirmed two signings on the eve of the Principality Premiership season.

The Gogs further strengthened their squad with the signings of lock Beau Williams and talented back Karl Martin, who arrive at Stadiwm Zip World with big reputations and have plenty of experience of competitive action in the southern hemisphere.

Williams joins from New Zealand where he has turned out for Bay of Plenty and Tauranga Sports, with Martin – who can operate on the wing or at full-back – joining from South Africa where he enjoyed spells with UCT U20s and False Bay.

Jones, said: “We have maximised the talent from North Wales at the moment in these areas, and with all signings they have to offer more than we have currently.

“Beau is Welsh qualified as his mother was born in Cardiff and he will come over to give us something extra. We have Robin Williams and Bryn Jones who have done well for us along with the more experienced Andrew Williams, so Beau will add to that mix.

“With Afon Bagshaw gaining his Wales 7s contract it means he won’t be as readily available to us, so we needed support for Dion Jones and Karl will give is that. “He is a specialist goal kicker and has that tactical kick base to his game, so offers a foil to Dion’s more running game.

“As we have always stated, when we bring players in they must add to what we have, and we saw with Tiaan (Loots) helping to develop Danny Cross and Jacob (Botica) with Sam Rogers then these recruits well help the next line of North Wales players to come through.”
