NORTHOP HALL climbed into the Liverpool Competition Division Two promotion places with a three-wicket success over Old Xaverians.
Hall went into the encounter knowing only victory would do against table topping Old Xaverians and after winning the toss captain Dave Kennedy elected to field.
The spin duo of Josh Andrady (5-68) and James Hurlin (4-36) made that decision the right one as they combined to bowl Old Xaverians out for 140.
Josh Andrady (31) and Hurlin (25) then made sure Hall’s reply got off to a steady start after Alex Smith had departed for four.
Alistair Andrady then struck an unbeaten 43 and Jack Billington hit 20 not out as Hall secure the victory that sent them second in the league, a place above Old Xaverians.
Caldy are the new leaders after they needed just 39.5 overs to beat St Helens Town by eight wickets.
Zaighum Abbas bagged 7-27 as St Helens were skittled for just 38, before Caldy cruised to 39 for two in reply.
