DAVE KENNEDY wants Northop Hall to "get back on the horse" after their Liverpool Competition Division Two title hopes were dealt a blow.

The Flintshire outfit suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of fellow promotion hopefuls Sutton (St Helens) last weekend in a fixture Kennedy described as his side's biggest of the season to date.

But the damage is repairable with Hall just 13 points adrift of second placed Old Xaverians and 32 behind leaders Caldy, who have played a game more.

Kennedy said: "If I'm honest, and I always try to be, then Sutton deserved to win last weekend.

"We didn't play well enough to win the game. We were 98 for seven and although we recovered to post 164, it wasn't enough.

"We need to get back on the horse now. It's important we rebound positively and get a good win this weekend.

"Sutton are playing Old Xaverians, so hopefully that result can go in our favour and it will help that Sutton will fancy promotion themselves now."

Next up for Hall is a trip to Parkfield Liscard, who were beaten by four wickets when they visited Smithy Lane earlier this season.

Kennedy continued: "They are a team we should beat, but we've got to go there fully focused on victory and determined to put on a show.

"We know that we've got to go to Parkfield and win if we are to try and get into the top two again."

Jamie Griffiths and Jack Allen, who helped Hall to 164 with an unbeaten 26 last week, miss out this weekend along with the injured Alex Smith.

The experienced Karl Evans, Jamie Hodgson and Caleb Dyke will be included in the Hall XI as they chase a 10th win of the season.

Hall Seconds have a double header this weekend as they entertain Colwyn Bay Seconds tomorrow before Spring View second string visit Smithy Lane on Sunday.

Sefton Park is the venue for Hall's third XI as they tackle hosts South Liverpool on Sunday.

Life doesn't get any easier for Shropshire League Division Three strugglers Overton as they entertain leaders Hinstock tomorrow.

Overton were forced to concede last week's scheduled trip to Prees.
