THE plane carrying US President Joe Biden flew over North Wales on route to the G7 summit in Cornwall.

Air Force One, carrying Mr Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, passed over parts of Wrexham, leading to social media users to joke that they wanted to see The Racecourse after the recent takeover by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

During the flight, the plane passed over the east of Wrexham county, including Holt, before continuing to its destination of Newquay in Cornwall.

The President had addressed US servicemen at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk on Wednesday evening before the plane departed, flying over the Manchester area then over the border of Wrexham and Cheshire before heading south.

On Thursday, Mr Biden tweeted: “Today, I’ll be meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson ahead of the G7 Summit in Cornwall. I look forward to affirming the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom and discussing how we’ll tackle our shared challenges together in the years ahead.”
