Endometriosis is a condition which impacts around 1 in 10 women, where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb grow elsewhere in the body. These cells behave in the exact same way – building up, breaking down and then bleeding – but unfortunately the blood has no way of escaping the body, causing pain, fatigue and many other conditions.

Every March those affected by endometriosis campaign to raise awareness and make changes to the way in which they are diagnosed and treated. Due to similarities with other conditions it can often take a long time to formally diagnose the condition. The Welsh Government has committed to funding specialist nurses in every health board through a £1 million fund as part of wider plans to improve women’s health services.

I’d like to thank all those involved in campaigning for improved services for both endometriosis and women’s health in general, both locally and nationally and I am committed to working with constituents impacted by endometriosis.

With the ongoing situation in Ukraine I want to thank Flint Town Council for organising and everyone who joined together on Sunday evening for vigil for Ukraine. To update on the Welsh Government’s efforts to support those being displaced, a number of pallets of supplies have left Wales and the First Minister has confirmed that arrangements can be made to settle up to 1000 refugees. The cost-of-living crisis continues to impact all of our communities – energy, fuel and essentials all continue to rise in price or become more difficult to secure. A number of constituents from different parts of our corner of the country have contacted me to explain their difficulty in obtaining heating oil both due to the horrific price increases and the lack of availability. There are also real concerns about the difference in costs in different areas, meaning that some of our communities are facing higher costs than others.

Whilst power over rising fuel costs remains with the UK Government, I have raised this issue with the Minister for Social Justice and the Minister for Climate Change to see what actions the Welsh Government can take to support those being affected. I have also been in touch directly with some of the companies who supply heating oil in our communities to challenge the difference in costs which we are facing to others. Unlike other forms of energy there is no price cap on heating oil which in some cases has meant a significant jump in prices.

I’ll continue to do all I can to support constituents through these difficult times by challenging those who are able to make positive changes in the UK Government and signposting those in need to the support being made available by the Welsh Government and Flintshire County Council.
