A COUNTY councillor says vandalism and anti-social behaviour at Wepre Park is "getting out of hand".

Cllr Ian Dunbar, ward member for Connah's Quay South which encompasses Wepre Park, said the issues occur there on a "daily" basis.

His comments come after the Leader reported on constant anti-social behaviour issues faced by FC Nomads of Connah's, based at Wepre Park, after fencing around its ground was cut through.

Cllr Dunbar told the Leader: "The vandalism once again is getting out of hand in the park, its Rangers are faced daily with anti-social behaviour.

"Not only targeting the fence around the football ground, there was damage to the fishing club fencing.

"The Bailiffs have done tremendous work around the Connah's Quay Angling Club's Rosie fishing pool, a organisation that attracts many different aged people to fish, but this constant battle we have to go through every time is getting beyond a joke."

He added: "Money has been spent to make Wepre Park the jewel in the crown of Flintshire, and the efforts of Rangers and the many volunteers to keep the place somewhere for people to visit is beyond reproach.

"I have to commend the efforts from the police to try and prevent this disgraceful vandalism. We have conversations and hopefully patrols on many occasions but to find that certain individuals cause so much damage to their own park is unforgivable."
